Move the choke lever to the CLOSED position.

Always use the choke when starting the engine.

Some engine applications use a remotely-mounted choke control

rather than the engine-mounted choke lever shown here.

Move the throttle lever away from the SLOW position, about 1/3 of

the way toward the FAST position.
